From August 8 to 13, the "Remote Sensing Information Processing and its Application in the Urban Environment" international summer training was successfully held, bringing experts in remote sensing information processing at home and abroad and participants to share frontier technology development and exploring how to solve S&T challenges facing the world.

On July 15, 2022, the inauguration of Atmospheric Environment Remote Sensing Society (AERSS) and the inaugural meeting of its working groups was held in Beijing in a combination of online and offline approaches. More than 50 experts from over ten countries and regions in the fields of atmosphere, environment, and remote sensing attended the meeting, which was presided over by Prof. LI Zhengqiang from the Aerospace Information Research Institute (AIR), Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS).

The 2022 international training workshop on Earth observations for sustainable development in developing countries (2022 AOGEO training workshop on EO capacity) was held online (synchronously webcast in Beijing of China and Kathmandu of Nepal) during 26-28 July 2022.

On July 7, 2022, Prof. GUO Huadong, Director of the International Centre on Space Technologies for Natural and Cultural Heritage (HIST) under the auspices of UNESCO, and Dr. Bruno Oberle, Director General of the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) through a virtual ceremony to advance collaboration on applying space technologies to monitor, conserve and protect natural World Heritage sites. This joint work will support the implementation of the World Heritage Convention which celebrates its 50th anniversary in 2022.

The 5th Asia-Oceania Group on Earth Observations (AOGEO) Workshop wrapped up in Beijing and online on June 17, 2022.
