Progress in Cooperative Research on Urban Intelligent Transportation Navigation between China and Thailand

Feb 26, 2021

A cooperative research on high-precision navigation and positioning technology for urban intelligent transportation was jointly carried out by the Aerospace Information Research Institute (AIR), Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), together with the National Electronics and Computer Technology Center (NECTEC) of Thailand, with the support of CAS International Partnership Program.

The research team collected the data of MSAS and GAGAN to provide data support for the research of RTK+SBAS processing algorithm, with the use of RTK base station network in Thailand.

The RTK+SBAS precise real-time positioning technology combined with the UWB network positioning technology developed by AIR has realized the indoor and outdoor centimeter-level real-time positioning.

The positioning accuracy is up to 20cm, with adaptive seamless roaming between the UWB service anchors in dynamic scene. Based on the interactive intelligent algorithm, the automatic seamless switching of navigation modes under different application scenarios is realized.

The research team built a comprehensive navigation and positioning test system based on BDS+UWB, and conducted a demonstration test on the traffic system in Bangkok, demonstrating the high-precision positioning service and application of "BDS +".

Relying on the technical strength of global navigation satellite system (GNSS), AIR has been actively promoting the industrial application and implementation of the BeiDou system (BDS) in Thailand and other Belt and Road countries, showcasing application prospects of China's BDS and related incremental technologies.
