China Releases Updated Global Land Cover Dataset
BEIJING, Dec. 1 (Xinhua) -- Chinese researchers have released an updated global land cover dataset for 2020 with a resolution of 30 meters, according to the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS).
Generated by researchers from the Aerospace Information Research Institute under the CAS, the dataset reflects the landscape distribution of global land areas (except Antarctica) at a spatial resolution of 30 meters.
The dataset, which can be downloaded for free, will offer data support for land cover research and applications.
Land cover distribution information is important for climate change research, environmental assessment and geographical conditions monitoring. With the development of satellite remote sensing and computing capabilities, there is a growing demand for high-resolution global land cover data products.
