AIR Conducts Aerial Remote Sensing Experiment

Mar 30, 2020

The year 2020 is crucial for the project of Airborne Remote Sensing System, a national key S&T infrastructure underway. Two remote sensing aircraft equipped with dozens of advanced remote sensing equipment and high-performance ground data processing systems, the system is expected to be China’s state-of-the-art aerial system once completed.

Against the backdrop of coronavirus outbreak worldwide, the project team from the Airborne Remote Sensing Center with the Aerospace Information Research Institute (AIR) set off for Yanliang District of Xi’an, the capital of Shaanxi Province on March 11 to carry on airborne remote sensing experiments, making preparations for the upcoming project acceptance check this year.

The group of nine young scientists are with various research backgrounds, covering surveying, electronics, aviation, computer science, and communications.

As airborne-ground integrated experiments, this mission involves five research units inside and four agencies outside AIR, and flights over three airports in various provinces.

This mission has laid solid foundation for the project acceptance check, and also unveils this year’s aerial mission of high-resolution airborne remote sensing system with MA 60 aircraft.
