International Workshop on BeiDou Technology and Applications Kicks off in Beijing
The 2019 International Training Workshop on BeiDou Technology and its Applications in the Belt and Road Countries and Regions kicked off in Beijing on September 17.
The two-week event was attended by some 20 participants from 13 countries and regions including Nigeria, Laos, Zambia, Italy, Tajikistan, Egypt, Indonesia, India, Philippines, Myanmar, Thailand, Nepal, and Hong Kong of China.
The workshop, responding to the strategy of “promoting BeiDou system to the world step by step”, arranged its training sessions on the theme of BeiDou navigation and positioning technologies, with a goal of promoting international cooperation and industry development of BeiDou System.
The event is hosted by the Academic Exchange Center of China Satellite Navigation Office, co-hosted by Aerospace Information Research Institute, and supported by the CAS Bureau of International Cooperation.
BeiDou system, a major space infrastructure of China, expanded its service to the Belt and Road countries and regions at the end of 2018.
The system has played a role in some international projects, such as the transport and port management in Pakistan, land planning and river transport monitoring in Myanmar, precision agriculture and disease and pest monitoring in Laos, as well as urban construction and smart tourism in Brunei. By now, the basic BeiDou high-precision products have been exported to more than 90 countries and regions.
