International Society for Digital Earth
Founded in Beijing in 2006, the International Society for Digital Earth (ISDE) is a non-governmental and not-for-profit international organization sponsored mainly by the Chinese Academy of Sciences to spread the concept of Digital Earth, to promote academic exchange and joint projects, and to explore Digital Earth as an enabling technology to play key roles in economic and social sustainable development, environmental protection, disaster mitigation, and the conservation of world heritage and natural resources. ISDE joined the Group on Earth Observations (GEO) in November 2011.

The International Journal of Digital Earth (IJDE) is ISDE’s academic journal. Launched in March 2008 and jointly published by Taylor & Francis Group, the journal focuses on the theories, technologies, and applications of Digital Earth. It is the first internationally peer-reviewed professional journal in the field of Digital Earth. In 2009, the journal was accepted for coverage in the Science Citation Index Expanded (SCI-E) and received its first impact factor, 0.864. In 2010, its impact factor rose to 1.453, ranking 7th among all 23 remote sensing journals.
